Feldco’s Transit Advertising Campaign Drives Brand Recognition

“When I think about what we do here at Feldco, we’re providing custom solutions for consumers. And it’s typically on their most important investment that they have, which is their home,” says Ron Gerstung, President of Feldco.

For Chicago homeowners, there are countless options when it comes to home renewal businesses. With just a quick Google search, hundreds of businesses flood the page. It can be difficult to find a trustworthy business that is right for the job.

That’s why Feldco has chosen to invest in a diverse marketing mix – which includes transit advertising with Pace – to stand out in a competitive market and to make their brand the first thing that comes to mind when a Chicagoland resident is looking to embark on a home renewal project.

The home renewal experts in the Midwest

Feldco started in 1976 when Bernie Feld began selling windows in Chicago. Back then, Feld’s mission was to delight customers with the industry’s best value and experience as the Midwest’s leading home renewal company. Now almost 50 years later, Feldco has remained true to this mission. As a family owned and operated business, they have stayed committed to delighting their customers with replacement windows, siding, doors, and roofing.

Feldco is now the top window supplier and home renewal company in the Midwest. Their products are designed specifically for the area, which has allowed them to grow throughout the region. With 11 showrooms in Illinois, Wisconsin, Iowa, and Indiana – Feldco is helping more homeowners than ever before.

But with their continued growth comes the need to continuously advertise – to ensure that their name and brand is present across the market.

Advertising since the beginning

Feldco understands the importance of getting their name and brand in front of their target population. Which is why they’ve been investing in advertising since the beginning.

When speaking on Feldco’s advertising mix, Gerstung said, “[In] Over 50 years, we’ve done almost everything. I can think all the way back to the beginning, when we would do the Yellow Pages. We’ve pretty much done it all. We will do direct mail pieces. We’re on television, of course, [and] now we’re on we’re on buses across the marketplace.”

Advertising with Pace boosts Feldco’s brand awareness in Chicago

Feldco has advertised with Pace Suburban Bus for over 10 years, and works with Adsposure to reach their target population – homeowners. Gerstung acknowledges that Feldco isn’t doing much business in downtown Chicago, so Pace was the obvious option when looking to advertising on public transportation in Chicagoland

“We can pick those routes at that service customers in the suburban Chicago area,” says Gerstung. Seeing that over 9 million people live in Chicagoland – outside of the city – this is an obvious choice for the home renewal experts to target suburban bus routes. “And I just love that form of advertising because I want our brand to be ubiquitous throughout Chicago. And when when people see us on television, and they see us maybe in a direct mail piece, but then when that bus is following them down in through traffic for the next 15 minutes, they see our spot, just every second that they’re, you know, positioned behind a bus or on the side of a bus.”

Feldco also looked to target those on the sidewalks and riding the bus with their passenger side advertisements.

And the Feldco team and Gerstung believe that their bus ads are working. For Gerstung, he has heard firsthand about the impact that his ads are having on customers, friends, and neighbors. “They’ll tell me, oh my gosh, my kids were singing the jingle the other day. And I’d say, ‘Oh, why is that?’ Well, we happened to be behind the bus. And they saw a picture of Dave and they saw 866-4FELDCO and immediately started singing the jingle. That’s when I know it’s working.”
