Dr. Swannie Jett, the CEO of Park DuValle Community Health Center, knows marketing. Between his TV show CEO Live Talks, his billboards around Louisville, and his robust public relations campaigns – he takes a variety of angles to reach the people of Louisville. “A lot of people do not put enough money into marketing and promotions, but I think it’s essential,” shared Dr. Jett. And one of the most essential pieces to his marketing strategy are the many Park DuValle TARC buses running around Louisville.
About Park DuValle Community Health Center
Park DuValle Community Health Center has a long and meaningful history in Louisville. Founded during the Civil Rights Movement, Park DuValle was established to address the lack of accessible healthcare in African American communities. As the first community health center in Kentucky, and the seventh in the nation, the organization was built on the belief that quality healthcare should be available to everyone, regardless of income, background, or insurance status. That is still the driving force behind Park DuValle today, with their mission stating, “Park DuValle Community Health Center is deeply committed to improving health, wellness and the quality of life in the communities we serve by providing safe, high quality, accessible and affordable preventive and primary health care.”
The organization offers a full range of services, including adult and pediatric care, women’s health, behavioral health, on-site laboratory services, and an in-house pharmacy supported by the 340B program. With clean, modern facilities and a high standard of care, Park DuValle ensures patients receive the same quality experience whether they are covered by commercial insurance, Medicaid, or a sliding fee scale based on income.
Accessibility remains at the core of everything Park DuValle does. Patients are seen regardless of their ability to pay, with fees adjusted based on household income to remove financial barriers to care. As Park DuValle has expanded beyond Louisville’s West End into surrounding communities, that same commitment follows, meeting patients where they are and making healthcare more visible, approachable, and inclusive.
Why Park DuValle Chose to Advertise on TARC Buses
“To see Park DuValle on a bus, it made people smile.”
On top of bringing smiles to faces with his bus advertisements, Dr. Jett and Park DuValle are reaching the Louisville community and making a positive impact, which is key to bringing those who need care into the clinic. When talking about the investment Park DuValle puts into advertising, Dr. Jett shared, “The important part of marketing is, number one, you want to increase the volume of your patients, but also you want to add exposure on a good service you’re doing.”
And that’s exactly what their buses do. Advertisements vary from promoting the health center’s variety of healthcare offerings, to assistance with WIC enrollment, and even Dr. Jett’s CEO Live Talks show.
Additionally, because TARC buses run throughout the city, these advertisements reach areas where the populations they serve live, work, and play in.
“So, Park DuValle first started in the West End, but now Park DuValle is everywhere… So wherever you go, you can have Park DuValle,” Dr. Jett also highlighted that many of their patients come from a wide range of cultural and international backgrounds. “One of our communities in Newburgh is mainly Congolese, Syrian, Turkish, Cuban population, a lot of them hear about it based off the wraps on the buses,” he shared. By placing their brand on buses that travel through these neighborhoods, Park DuValle ensures that their message reaches everyone, regardless of background, and reinforces that care is available for all members of the community.
The Impact of TARC Transit Advertising
Park DuValle’s investment in TARC bus advertising has paid off in more ways than one. Beyond increasing brand visibility, the campaigns directly influence how community members learn about the health center and access its services. Dr. Jett shared, “We have a survey. We ask, ‘Hey, how did you hear about Park DuValle?’ More and more people are saying, ‘Hey, I saw the advertisement.’” And community response has been overwhelmingly positive. Dr. Jett shared that people often stop to take photos or videos of the buses and share them with him and the Park DuValle team.
On top of the positive community impact, advertising on TARC buses with Adsposure also gives back to the transit system itself. Because a large portion of the investment goes directly back to TARC, organizations like Park DuValle can feel good about advertising as their funds are helping to keep the system moving, a system some of their patients rely on.
