Connecting Communities and Boosting Visibility: Rising Star Casino Resort’s Transit Advertising Approach

For Rising Star Casino Resort, the stakes are high when it comes to advertising.

“In the Tri-State area, I’m one of many casino choices for my customers,” says Angi Truebner-Webb, General Manager, “I have to get the word out that I do exist. I have to put myself on the map as a choice of entertainment.” That’s why Truebner-Webb and Rising Star turned to Adsposure and the Transit Authority of Northern Kentucky to help expand their reach and put their brand in front of thousands in Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky each day.

Rising Star began as the first riverboat casino in Indiana in 1996. Now going on their 26th year, Rising Star has grown to a casino resort located in Rising Sun, Indiana, featuring a hotel with 294 rooms, a full-service RV park, multiple dining options, and Southern Indiana’s only Scottish links-style golf course. Additionally, they have launched a ferry service from Rabbit Hash, Kentucky to bring easy access to Rising Star Casino Resort for those who live in Boone County – turning a 26-mile commute by road into a 2,000-foot journey by ferry.

Which is part of the reason that Rising Star Casino Resort chose to advertise with TANK in Northern Kentucky.

Giving Back While Gaining Momentum

“The billboard and advertising market in Northern Kentucky is very complicated. I do think with the limited options in Northern Kentucky, the TANK buses are a very viable option [for advertising].”

With Boone County, Kentucky, growing at a rapid pace, Rising Star Casino Resort wanted to ensure that their name was frequently seen throughout the area, so that residents knew that they were the closest casino option to them – thanks to their ferry service. Additionally, Truebner-Webb is proud that Rising Star can contribute in a positive way to the transportation system in Northern Kentucky through advertising with TANK.

“The casino industry traditionally is entry-level positions, and therefore getting to and from work is always a conversation with my employees. So I know that there’s a large group of people in this community in Northern Kentucky that rely on the TANK buses for their livelihoods.”

Advertising with Adsposure and TANK, a large portion of the invested advertising dollars go straight back to the transit authority. For Truebner-Webb and Rising Star Casino Resort, this was a huge bonus.

“To be able to contribute… to the community that is also my target community. I think it just feels good. It makes sense.”

Dynamic Design that Makes an Impact

Rising Star Casino Resort’s extended format advertisement includes vibrant photos of options they provide to stay, play, and relax. Their ad, a King Kong format, covers the bus from wheel to wheel and top to bottom – even covering the windows. Because of the size of the ad, it can be seen by drivers, passengers, and pedestrians easily.

Truebner-Webb pitched the idea of advertising on the TANK bus to the Rising Star Casino marketing team, and they got into contact with John at Adsposure. From there, Rising Star’s graphic designer created the design and worked with the Adsposure team to get it on the bus. And their design was so exceptional that they received a 2022 Transit Award for making the Biggest Impact in Northern Kentucky!

When we asked what Truebner-Webb thought of the bus, her answer was simple:

“It’s pretty flipping cool. I mean, it looks awesome.”
